When the Living With Michael Jackson documentary aired on TV in 2003 no one was more surprised by its sensationalized content than Michael Jackson himself.
Michael had agreed to this project believing that Martin Bashir would show the world the truth about him. In exchange, Jackson had agreed to make nothing off limits. Read more
Michael Jackson’s Home Videos

Michael Jackson released home videos that were included in a special. This special allows an exceptionally rare and private glimpse at his private moments. The home movies made from when Michael was a child to a parent, show him carefree and fun loving. It provides the viewer with an understanding of what made him tick. His love for laughter and joking was clear. His love and affection for others jumps out at you.

Through these videos we are provided moments with family, friends, co-workers and finally his children. We watch as he celebrates his first Christmas with Elizabeth Taylor, rocks in the back of his friend’s car (like we have never seen him), jokes on the many sets of his videos, practices his dance moves, runs around playing at Neverland, and jumps with delight when thrown in pools or shot at during water pistol fights.
For all the fun shown, however, we are also provided a glimpse at how some of the activities we take for granted are unheard of experiences for him and to what lengths he must go to in order to experience them (e.g. grocery shopping – one of my favourite).
Although the footage is raw and the focus is often not so great, these you cannot miss. It will offer you the delight of his world and what fun it must have been to experience those special moments of ‘just plain fun’.
It is well worth the watch. Read more

Collective Shame Towards Michael Jackson

As the weeks and months have passed since Michael Jackson‘s death, the growing need to research the legend has only intensified.
Having been a fan many years ago, introducing my children to his music a few years back, and personally witnessing hysteria around him in France, it was only after his passing that I really started to research and listen to the ‘man in the mirror’. What conclusions have I come up with about this man the world is so curious about? To be honest I have come up with many but one stands out more than any. There is a collective shame the world must absorb regarding this man (and yes he was a man even if at times he seemed larger than life) and how we treated him. Read more

Like many, I have heard the sketchy details of Michael Jackson’s will. Although not a lawyer myself, the content of his will, how it was drawn up, who was included and who was not included, tell us a lot about the man, his relationships and how to protect others by drawing up a formalized will.

With the passing of Michael Jackson today, I cannot help but wonder what he would have believed his legacy would be. He was an artist, a genius, a humanitarian and yes, a troubled lonely soul.
But being the first to focus the attention on Africa through his We Are the World rally cry, he began a movement that is still felt today. Read more
